Play Time... For the Children

It's School Vacation Time...

Oh, the planning and the play dates. It is enough to make any persons head spin. For a couple of years now, I have been able to get away with just a play date here and a play date there. But now it seems to be getting  a lot more tough.

My kids want to be on the go from morning to night everyday. Financially in these tougher times it is really hard, no matter what income status you come from.

I have tried planning out our week ahead of time. I schedule a couple of outings, which will cost me money but in my budget, with their friends. But, with those other days in between, I make sure I have all the ingredients for fun!

I start by making sure to pick up some extra goodies at the grocery store. When I say goodies, I mean the ingredients to make some goodies. This can be a great activity for kids young to old. For the younger kids, it is great to let them pour things into the bowls and crack the eggs (Don't worry about the shells!) and get messy. For the school age kids this is awesome for math skills. Weighing, measuring, counting, and I even will slip in the occasional times tables.

The other things I stock up on are art supplies. My kids love to draw, but they also love to use paint pens and markers, stickers and clay. Playdough is another fantastic item to have on hand. I will pull it out for my kids and find myself gravitating back to the table to show them what I can create!

What are some of your ideas?
